The class will consist of a program of independent study projects jointly agreed upon by the instructor and student. The opportunity to pursue the advanced placement in art option is available in this class, although it is recommended that this project be started during the junior year in Studio Art . Grading requirements for this class will be at the highest level, stressing artistic quality and originality. The ultimate goal of this class is to give art majors an opportunity to hone their artistic skills in preparation for college level art. All areas covered in Art 1, Art 2, and Studio Art 3 will be used to build the students artistic skills in preparation for college level classes. Art history and art careers will also be addressed, and students will be expected to create and maintain a both a digital and physical portfolio.
