This course is an overview of world history and how it can be studied. Though we will learn about many societies, political structures, conflicts, economic principles, time periods, and cultures, the emphasis will be on the study of history. We will work to develop the skills necessary to identify and understand historical themes and big ideas. Success in this class is reliant on hard work, critical thinking, and open mindedness.
Students in AP World History will be challenged with intellectually stimulating discussions, writing assignments, and test practice. The goal of AP World History is to offer advanced sophomores an opportunity to excel in social studies and prepare for the AP World History Exam. Students are chosen for this class based on teacher recommendation and self-selection.
