Students will identify and define terms which relate to American literature, identify tools writers use, perceive differences in the genres of literature, express ideas about the literature through discussion and analytical composition, increase understanding of the structure of language, increase vocabulary, become more familiar with America’s greatest authors and write compositions, essays, poems, and opinions relating to the study of literature.  Students will write a research paper with documentation.  Grammar and proofreading skills will be emphasized through writing.
