Students will develop skills in the following areas: reading and comprehension, identifying forms of literature, understanding the values and elements of literature, interpreting literature, appreciating literary communication in the work of peers and professional authors, recognizing literature as an artistic expression, and recognizing and producing different kinds of writing. Additional skills will include proofreading, vocabulary and spelling, sentence structure and grammar, library usage, research skills, media influence and analysis, cooperative learning, and class participation.
